This figure shows the geometry of the simulation volume as example with 4 × 4 cells, typical simulation volumes are set up from 100 × 100 to 500 × 500 cells. Each simulation volume is just one half of the entire volume of the implant, because its mirror symmetry allows to restrict the simulation to half the volume. The plane of mirror symmetry is on the left side of the figure. (see also Fig. 3).
